Childhood Cancers
Overview
Childhood cancers are rare diseases diagnosed in children, adolescents, and young adults, typically from birth through age 21. These cancers often differ from those seen in adults and usually develop as a result of changes in growing cells rather than lifestyle or environmental factors.
The most common childhood cancers include leukemias, brain and other central nervous system (CNS) tumors, lymphomas, neuroblastoma, and sarcomas. While some cancers can occur in both children and adults, pediatric cancers often require specialized expertise, treatment approaches, and supportive care designed specifically for younger patients.
At Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, our pediatric cancer specialists provide comprehensive, family-centered care tailored to the unique needs of children, adolescents, and young adults. Our team offers access to advanced therapies, supportive services, and clinical trials designed to improve outcomes and quality of life throughout treatment and beyond..
