Innovative & Advanced Care
Cancer treatment is not one-size-fits-all. At Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center, we use advanced technologies and the latest scientific discoveries to understand your cancer at the molecular level and develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. From precision medicine and cellular therapies to clinical trials and advanced surgical techniques, we offer access to innovative approaches that are shaping the future of cancer care.
Leading-Edge Treatment Options
No two cancers are exactly alike. Even cancers that begin in the same part of the body can behave differently based on their genetic and molecular makeup. Understanding these differences helps us make more informed treatment decisions and identify therapies that are most likely to be effective for each patient.
As an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, we combine established therapies with the latest advances in cancer research to deliver highly personalized care. Our experts use precision oncology, cellular therapies, innovative surgical techniques, and clinical trials to develop treatment plans tailored to the unique biology of each person's cancer. This approach allows patients to access cutting-edge therapies and emerging treatment options, many of which are not widely available, while benefiting from the expertise of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes.

Advanced Care at Vanderbilt-Ingram
From precision medicine and cellular therapies to advanced radiation techniques and minimally invasive procedures, our specialists work together to determine which treatments may be most effective for each patient.
Advanced Radiation Treatments
These highly targeted radiation therapies deliver treatment directly to the area where it is needed most. By focusing radiation with greater precision, it helps protect surrounding healthy tissue while effectively treating cancer.
Cellular Therapies
Cellular therapies use specially prepared immune or stem cells to help the body recognize and fight cancer. Vanderbilt-Ingram offers advanced options including stem cell transplant, CAR-T therapy, and other emerging cellular treatments.
Cold Cap Therapy
Cold cap therapy, also known as scalp cooling, is a treatment used to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy.
Custom Bone and Joint Implants
Cancers that affect bones can reduce or affect long term mobility. After the removal of a bone tumor, our team can design and implant custom prosthetics to fit precisely in the space left behind. This provides patients with restored mobility and a better quality of life.
Genetic Counseling for Inherited Cancer (opens in a new tab)
Some cancers have been connected to inherited genetic mutations. We have a team of certified genetic counselors and cancer geneticists who can provide comprehensive services to understand the genetic risk of cancer.
Hepatic Artery Infusion Therapy
HAI therapy delivers chemotherapy directly to the liver through a small, implanted pump. This approach can achieve higher concentrations of treatment at the tumor site while limiting exposure to the rest of the body.
Histotripsy
Histotripsy is a noninvasive treatment that uses focused ultrasound waves to destroy targeted tumors without surgery. It can be an option for some patients with liver tumors.
Immediate Lymphatic Reconstruction
Immediate Lymphatic Reconstruction is a microsurgical procedure to significantly reduce the risk of lymphedema for breast and skin cancer patients.
Microwave Ablation
Microwave ablation uses heat generated by microwave energy to destroy cancer cells. It may be used to treat certain liver tumors and metastatic cancers while minimizing damage to nearby healthy tissue.
Music Therapy
Music therapy uses music to help improve a person's physical, emotional, social, and mental well-being.
Neuro-Oncology (opens in a new tab)
Vanderbilt's Division of Neuro-Oncology specializes in the diagnosis and management of primary or secondary cancers affecting the brain, spine, and central nervous system, and the neurologic complications of cancer.
Precision Oncology
Precision medicine is the idea of using a person’s individual information, including their genetics, to make treatments more precise and personal. Precision oncology allows us to customize treatments based on both the cancer and the patient’s genetic makeup, and other individual characteristics.
Robotic Surgery & Robotic Bronchoscopy
Robotic-assisted procedures allow surgeons to operate with enhanced precision through smaller incisions, often resulting in less pain, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery. Robotic bronchoscopy can also help physicians reach hard-to-access areas of the lung for diagnosis.
Clinical Trials at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center
Many of today’s standard cancer treatments began as clinical trials. Vanderbilt-Ingram offers access to hundreds of clinical trials studying new therapies, combinations, and treatment approaches. For eligible patients, a clinical trial may provide promising treatment options before they become widely available.
Additional Treatments We Provide
From chemotherapy and surgery to immunotherapy and stem cell transplant, our specialists offer the full spectrum of cancer treatments and work together to determine the best approach for each patient.
