Patient & Family Resources

Services to help patients and families through every stage of cancer care — from the first appointment through survivorship.

Patient and Family Resource Center

In the waiting room of our main campus Preston Research Building location, the resource center is located on the 1st floor of The Vanderbilt Clinic (Suite 1840) and open Monday-Friday.

The resource center team is an important connecting point that provides supportive care, community resources, and educational materials to patients, their caregivers, and anyone touched by cancer. Feel free to get a cup of coffee or tea and speak with the individuals in the resource center office.

If you are cared for at one of our regional clinics, please email us or call (615) 322-9799.

Education and Training for Patients and Caregivers

Our providers offer virtual Lunch and Learn opportunities and workshops that rotate through treatment options or disease states. This gives our patients and caregivers the opportunity to engage with a professional working at the forefront of cancer diagnosis and care outside of a clinic visit.

Visit our calendar of events to find out about upcoming Lunch and Learns, cancer survivor wellness symposium, and disease-specific workshops.

Cold Cap Therapy

Cold cap therapy, also known as scalp cooling, can help reduce hair loss for patients receiving certain chemotherapy treatments.

CROWN Wig Program

CROWN is a supportive program offering free wigs and beauty accessories to patients experiencing treatment-related hair loss. In partnership with EBeauty Community for Cancer Support, individuals receive compassionate, one-on-one guidance to explore comfortable, natural-looking options and learn practical tips for wig wear and care.

Consultations occur by appointment only at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Belle Meade and the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge.

Music Therapy

For Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center patients, the arts can be sources of comfort, strength, and emotional resilience. In the hands of highly trained clinical professionals, music-based therapies can lead to measurable improvements in patients’ health and well-being.

Largely through philanthropic support, Vanderbilt Health has established music therapy services for adult and pediatric patients living with cancer. Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship. Music therapy can help to address a variety of health care goals, including managing stress, alleviating pain, promoting physical rehabilitation, family bonding, and emotional expression.

Currently, music therapy is available for oncology patients and families in both our inpatient and outpatient infusion clinic at our midtown campus. If you are interested in accessing this service, ask your provider for a referral.

Additional Wellness Resources

Beyond the traditional cancer treatments, we are also proud to partner with the Osher Center for Integrative Health and the Dayani Center for Health and Wellness.

The Osher Center offers services to support your mind, body, and spirit such as acupuncture, massage therapy, and yoga, among others, while the Dayani Center offers physical rehabilitation therapy that targets the effects of specific cancer-related conditions and helps rebuild strength and endurance.

Some services require a provider referral but are available to any patient, regardless of where they receive care.

Community Resources

We have curated a list of trusted resources outside of Vanderbilt Health to meet the unique physical, emotional, and financial needs of cancer patients, regardless of where they receive care. These are a few of our partners, but for additional resource support, please email us.
