Vanderbilt is home to state-of-the-art computational biology, genomic data analysis, and systems biology research experts that focus on high-dimensional datasets and are world leaders in discovery science and clinical translation.
Research Designed to Target Cancer
Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center benefits from a strong team of coordinated and collaborative biostatisticians, bioinformaticians, biomathematicians, computation biologists, and biomedical engineers to develop the infrastructure that ensures the discoveries made at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center are impactful, robust, and reproducible.
Leadership in Bioinformatics Research
Yu Shyr, PhD
Associate Director for Quantitative Sciences, VICC
Center for Quantitative Sciences (CQS)
The members of CQS have expertise in basic sciences as well as clinical and translational research. This team assists our research teams in high-dimensional data, including proteomic, genomic, lipidomic, and metabolomic research. This team can be integrated into the research at all stages from experimental design, sample size determination, power analysis, conventional data analysis, and interpretation.
Vanderbilt Biostatistics Data Coordinating Center (VBDCC)
VBDCC was designed to support researchers in the advancement of biomedical knowledge and research innovation. This team of biotechnicians, bioinformaticians, database/software developers, and project managers as a resource for all types of biomedical research.
Vanderbilt Technologies for Advanced Genomics Analysis and Research Design (VANGARD)
This team of experts assist investigators with experimental design and the best methods for analyzing and interpretation of data from genomics research including next generation sequencing. The goal of VANGARD is to consolidate the processes and pipeline for genomics data across Vanderbilt. Researchers can also utilize this group to assist in biostatistical and bioinformatics support for the use of BioVU specimens and data.
Training Modules
The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Data Science Shared Resource has created training module videos designed for our cancer center team. Credentials required for access.
